Open Access in French and Spanish Language

Three leading publishers, Iberoamericana Vervuert, Peter Lang, and De Gruyter, have joined together to form an Open Access collection of French and Spanish Language titles in the fields of Literary Studies, Linguistics, and Cultural Studies. The collection will include monographs, collected volumes, and dissertations, selected by an Editorial Board of subject experts.

Together the 3 publishers will publish 12 titles in the fields of French and Spanish Linguistics, Literary - and Cultural Studies as Open Access per year.

These titles are 12 brand new frontlist titles which are financed by the participating libraries in the cooperative model.

The publishers also show their commitment by converting 11 backlist titles that were published between 2012 and 2017 at no additional cost to libraries.

Editorial Board

The collection will be curated by a prestigious Editorial Board of 6 subject experts, 2 members of which will be appointed by each publisher.

The Editorial Board will cover a range of different institutions, as well as a variety of research fields in French and Spanish within the areas of Literary Studies, Linguistics, and Cultural Studies.

Prof. Dr. Carlos Garatea Grau, Professor at the Department of Humanities, in Linguistics and Literature at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, in Lima, and doctor of Romance Linguistics from Munich.


Prof. Dr. Ulrich Winter, Professor for French and Spanish Literature at the Philipps-Universität Marburg


Prof. Dr. Annette Gerstenberg, Professor for Romantic Language Science (French/Spanish), University of Potsdam, and Guest Professor at ÉTS Montréal

The Benefits

Supporting institutions help to making frontlist content in French and Spanish Linguistics and Literary Studies available Open Access.

The fees that are saved for eBook licences can be re-channelled to fund Open Access.

The end result will be 47 titles in French or Spanish openly available to everyone.

Price per year over a period of 3 years. (Price excl. VAT)
